Position Details
Primary Evening Schedule:
Approximately 5:30–7:30 PM, Monday–Thursday
The family would also love to find someone available for 2–3 mornings per week, approximately 6:00/6:30–8:00/8:30 AM, although morning availability is considered a bonus.
The family's biggest need is having someone who can step into the natural flow of the household without requiring extensive direction. Both parents may be home during portions of the evening while wrapping up work or transitioning home from the day, so this role will often feel collaborative.
Evening responsibilities may include:
-
Engaging their daughter through reading, imaginative play, conversation, music, building activities, or other age-appropriate play
-
Helping her transition home and settle into the evening routine
-
Preparing or assembling dinner, which will typically involve already-prepared foods or simple meals
-
Occasionally preparing basic items such as fish, vegetables, macaroni and cheese, or similar toddler-friendly meals
-
Sitting with child during dinner and talking with her about her day
-
Helping with bath time around 7:00 PM
-
Folding and putting away laundry
-
Moving household laundry through its cycle as needed
-
Loading or unloading dishes and resetting the kitchen
-
Tidying family spaces as the evening progresses
-
Picking up packages from the apartment lobby when needed
-
Occasionally grabbing coffee or small items from the building lobby
-
Taking trash out when appropriate
-
Very occasional daycare or school pickup, anticipated to be approximately once per month
Once Mom is home, childcare and household responsibilities may naturally become more of a tag-team effort.
Optional Morning Support:
For candidates interested in additional morning hours, responsibilities may include:
-
Helping their child through her morning routine
-
Preparing simple breakfasts such as scrambled eggs or pancakes
-
Cleaning up breakfast dishes and resetting the kitchen
-
Tidying the kitchen and family room
-
Putting away child’s clothing
-
Helping move laundry or other simple household tasks forward
-
Occasionally helping pack or organize a parent's lunch
-
Very occasional school or daycare drop-off, anticipated to be approximately once per month
-
Occasional light household tidying as needed
The family is looking for someone who is warm, soft, inviting, and intuitive with young children. Their daughter is friendly and outgoing but often likes to take the lead, so they would love someone who can follow her cues, engage with her naturally, and create a comfortable and trusting relationship.
Just as importantly, the ideal candidate will be someone who can walk into the home, notice what needs attention, and help without waiting for a detailed list of instructions. Someone who sees a basket of clean laundry that needs folding, dishes that can be put away, or a kitchen that could use a quick reset and simply jumps in would be tremendously valued.
The family's ideal nanny will be:
-
Warm, patient, and genuinely engaging with toddlers
-
Comfortable allowing a child to take the lead in play and interaction
-
Dependable, punctual, and consistent
-
Proactive and naturally observant
-
Organized and comfortable helping a household stay on track
-
Able to work collaboratively with parents who may be home
-
Comfortable balancing childcare with light mother’s helper responsibilities
-
Flexible and willing to help where needed
-
Looking for a meaningful, consistent part-time role with a family who truly values their support
For the right person, this is an opportunity to become a trusted extension of the family and bring an extra layer of ease, warmth, and organization to their everyday routine.
